Before the ‘I Do’ – Here’s the Legal To-Do

Getting married in Jamaica? The romance is sweet, but the paperwork? Not so much.

If you’ve ever tried navigating the steps, you know it can feel like a maze. But don’t worry—MCM Event Stylist has your back. Whether you’re planning a grand wedding or an intimate ceremony, here’s what you need to know to keep the process smooth:

  1. Start Early

Don’t wait till last minute. Gather your documents at least 8 weeks before the wedding. Birth certificates, photo IDs, and certified divorce or death certificates (if applicable) are a must.

2. Get Your Marriage Licence

Visit the Ministry of Justice or apply online. You'll need to pay the fee and provide your documents.

3. Hire a Licensed Marriage Officer

Not every pastor or officiant can legally marry you. Confirm that your chosen person is certified by the government.

4. Translation Matters

If any documents are in another language, you must get them translated and notarized.

5. After the Wedding – Don’t Lose Your Certificate!

Visit the Registrar General’s Department a month after your wedding with the pink slip provided by your minister or marriage officer to collect your official marriage certificate. Or, you can relax and let MCM Event Stylist handle this for you!

Plan your wedding with MCM Events Stylist! We’ll ensure it looks amazing and guide you with the paperwork too.

Let’s make your day both beautiful and hassle-free.
